Brampton was incorporated in 1853, and took its name from the town of Brampton, in Cumbria, England. Local transit is provided by Brampton Transit, with connects to other systems including; Mississauga Transit, York Region Transit, Go Transit, and Toronto Transit Commission (TTC). Brampton also has a new Bus Rapid Transit system, Züm - which charges a standard $3.25 for single adult transfer , valid for 2 hours.
